SafehipĀ® Technology & Materials

Learn more about our advanced shield technology & material excellence.

Advanced Shield Technology

At the heart of every SafehipĀ® protector lies a commitment to superior patient safety. Our technology is designed to address one of the most common and serious injuries in elderly care: hip fractures.

Key features:

  • Energy-shunting design: The signature horseshoe-shaped shield disperses impact energy away from the hip joint. This minimizes the direct pressure on the bone during a fall.
  • Durability: Shields are engineered to withstand multiple impacts without compromising protection.
  • Evidence-based: The SafehipĀ® protector is globally recognized and clinically validated for its impact-reduction capabilities.

This technology works by dispersing the energy from a fall away from the delicate hip joint area, effectively reducing the fall's impact on the bone itself. This allows the shields to resist multiple falls, providing continuous, reliable protection.

State of the art materials & tailored protection

State-of-the-art materials

High user compliance is key to fracture prevention, which is why our materials are selected for comfort, breathability and long-term durability.

Highlights:

  • Materials: Seamless garments made with cotton, polyester, and elastane blends for an optimal fit and fixation - especially for incontinent users.
  • Seamless knitting: Designed to feel comfortable when in contact with the skin
  • Care & hygiene: All textile parts - including pants and shields - are machine washable at 60°C and suitable for tumble drying without compromising the protective structure.

Tailored protection for every patient profile

SafehipĀ® is designed to meet a wide range of patient needs across care settings. The garments function like normal underwear, ensuring comfort and compliance. Sizing and design are grounded in extensive fact-based, real-world data.

  • Cotton, polyester, and elastane blends: These fabrics typically feature a blend of cotton, polyester, and elastane. This combination ensures the pants are flexible, comfortable to wear, and provide a perfect fit. The inclusion of elastane specifically contributes to the perfect fit, making the pants suitable for incontinent users by serving as a fixation pant.

  • Seamless knitting: The garments are designed with seamless knitting, a crucial feature for minimizing skin irritation, itching, and pressure marks, thereby ensuring the highest user comfort.

  • Ease of care: The textile components of the protectors, including the pants and textile shields, allow for easy washing and drying. They are designed for high durability, withstanding washes up to 60°C/140°F and tumble drying without damaging the protective components. This ease of care is a significant benefit for practitioners in healthcare settings, simplifying hygiene protocols and extending product lifespan.
